Contest Results 2003

A little banner present from Mags!

I had some doubts this year about the contest, since everyone seemed so busy this summer. However, as July wound down to a close, we ended up with 20 entries total, beating last year's 15. I seriously think this contest is taking a turn for the better, and as such, I think next year I'll be able to work in some actual Mega Man prizes (like maybe a manga or an action figure). Let us all hope that things keep going up. The judges this time around were a real hodge podge selection. Most of them, I just looked at who was online and asked if they wanted to judge. Most of them had no forwarning to the fact that I'd selected them until it was time to judge!

The judges were: Scarab, Necro Bob, Farenheit, and Brandi, with Robo Nyanya as the tie-breaker judge. I asked them to pick their top choice in each catagory, and those entries got 5 points. Then I asked them to pick their second choice, which got 3 points. The entry with the most points won the catagory.

FIRST PLACE WINNERS

Both catagories had to have a tie breaker, and these were they that came out on top by the skin of their teeth!

Winner - Content/Humor: Tabby hasn't had much luck this year with various contest until now! Her Blues.EXE in swimwear was a definate favorite for the judges, although some of them arn't even EXE fans.
Prize: Tabby asked for a picture of her original character, Cassandra, a human/pheonix.

Winner - Best Drawn/Colored: I had originally accidently left her entry out of the contest when it was first being judge, but fortunatly, at Otakon, she asked me about it, and I immediatly put it up and ask the judges to re-judge all the entries. Good thing too, since 3 of them voted her in (1 for 5 point, 2 for 3).
Prize: For Ruby-chan, she waited patiently until almost Christmas time to get her prize (since it took so long, I sent her a free print). It's one of Fafnir and her fan-character, Tila.

Second Place

Though there is no prize for winning second place, I'm sure these people will appreciate the votes non-the-less. Though they had originally tied for first, they didn't win the tie breaker. That doesn't they shouldn't be proud with how well they did.

2nd Place - Content/Humor: There's something just so cute about this picture. Lady Wolff Luna is a funny character herself, and it shows in this simple, but effective, piece of art.

2nd Place - Best Drawn/Colored: Mith actually tied with Tabby's entry at first, before the re-vote. However, since Tabby'd already one first place in Content, she couldn't win a placing in talent. Mith's picture definatly won this spot, and had Ruby's piece not made it up, it's quite possible that he/she would have won. Truely an emotional piece.

Runner Ups

As each year goes by, we get more and more entries. Though this is great, since we get to see more variety and ideas each year, it also means that an unfortunate number don't end up winning a placing. None of these people should feel bad, however, since they gave it their best. And who knows. One of these people might just win next year!

Alanna : Her work with watercolors is masterful. Lord knows I wouldn't have the patience to work in them.

Callista Kokiri : Interesting program. I wonder how the opperators like it.

Core : I did not just see this. I DID NOT JUST SEE THIS!! *stabs out eyes*

Gyrick : It's so true, Roll doesn't get as much attention as she should.

iGoGo : At least this year it's not Wily in a bikini. Very nice line work.

Lady Maverick81 : A very nice picture of Iris.

Lady Wolff Luna : I don't know who this character is, but I think it woulda been better had we seen some actual swim wear. The chest looks increadible, though.

Magnus : I couldn't agree more Sigma. XD @ *foam*

MegaProto : Honestly, I think this one needed a little bit more work. The idea was good, though.

Mith : Those sandles XD Another close fore first pic, Mith did an excellent job on this one.

Silhouette : A beauty of a pic, that could have gone for either catagory. Very original style.

Starnik : Similar to his last year's entry...only more frightening.

Tabby : I mentioned to Tabby that this looked like Blues with long hair, but she assured me it was really Zero. The coloring was just a coincidence.

YinggIrl : A good idea. If she'd taken it another couple steps, it woulda been perfect.

Zera : So much chaos. So much fun.

Zera : XD Poor Alia never gets a break. This one was really popular.
