Contest Results 2002

We really got a much better turn out the second year. There was alot more enthusiasm that year concerning the contest, and there were 14 entries in total. I'm was very happy with the way it turned out, and it gave me ideas on how to run this contest in the future. There were two catagories by which the pieces were graded. The first was content, or rather how humorous your picture was. The other was by how well it was drawn and colored. The only problem that came with this were there were a few pieces that fell under both catagories, and the voters would put the same piece down for each. In the end, we got everthing straightened out, and we chose our winners.

The judges for this content were my numerous friends and colleges over at Freelance Reploids: Mercs for Hire.

FIRST PLACE WINNERS

Judging was tough on both sides but after a few days of voting, the votes were talleyed, and these two winners were announced. Both of them will recieve a piece of custom artwork for me (who'se still too broke and/or cheap to offer anything better), along with my gratitude.

Winner - Content/Humor: Starnik's sketch certainly earned it's spot. Most people focused on undressing their reploids and robots, but he decided to dress them in another manner. I want those swimming trunks Vile is wearing.
Prize: His choice prize for winning was a multi-character picture for his webpage, Starnik's Station.

Winner - Best Drawn/Colored: Timestones' interesting interpitation of beach volleyball. The colors were very bright, and the picture was crisp and clear. A good job indead.
Prize: Timestones never claimed his prize.

BEST OVERALL

There was one picture that fell into both catagories, and everyone kept voting it in as the best, but some felt it should be in the best drawn, while others thought it should be the most humorous, so the votes on it were split in such a way where it didn't win either catagory. But it still got the most votes out of both catagories, so I made a third placing just for it.

Honorary - Best Overall: After viewing this picture, I'm sure you can see why there was a bit of trouble voting on Neko-Chan's entry. I swear when I saw Sigma doing the hula, I thought I was gonna die.
Prize: When she contacted me to ask if she would get a prize even though she hadn't won either catagory, I couldn't not give her one. She asked for a picture of Techno and Midi, and the picture has become one of my personal favorites.

Second Place

Though there is no prize for winning second place, I'm sure these people will appreciate the votes non-the-less. Though every entry got a goodly amount of votes, these came very close to winning themselves.

2nd Place - Content/Humor: I don't think any other picture caused more screams of agony then this one. The judges tried to get me to open up an new catagory as the most disturbing, but I said no. iGoGo turned this picture in at the last possible moment, and I'm sure she'll be glad to know how close her picture came to robbing the judges of their sanity.

2nd Place - Best Drawn/Colored: Once again, Tabby entices us with a gorgeous picture of Blues, soaking in the sun. Last year, since the judges were all girls, she nailed first place easily. But this year I'm afraid, all but one of the judges were guys. Still, that considered, she got a boat load of votes, and she should feel proud.

Runner Ups

This was a tough contest, and there were numerous pieces that came close. Each of these entries has it's own good points, and the artists should feel good about how well they each did.

Avie Kokyre: Avie's first entry. I truely liked how she did the coloring in this one, showing the two hunters curiosity about what they'd just run over.

Avie Kokyre: This was Avie's second entry. She wanted me to throw out her first and only judge her second. This is a very good piece, depicting a Light family outing.

Core Xion: The only Rockman Zero entry we got, poor Zero's been captured by Leviatan. Although I don't know why he'd be so upset ;)

Crazy Zera: The only picture to feature all origanal characters, this picture came out a bit fuzzy. Though I know Zera's work to be good, I think she needed to turn up the resolution just a tad. All in all, still a good pic.

Gyrik: It wouldn't be a summer contest without seeing Iris up to her neck in sand. Thank you Gyrik for completing our wishes.

Kirisu: 0_0 is all I have to say.

Kusunene: A very well done picture, I think there was just too much empty space in this picture. I'm sure the judges wish he'd done a closer picture of Roll too ;)

Lady Wolff Luna: Another origanal character, Lady Wolff's style seems to improve almost everyday. Next time maybe we'll see a beach background to go with the sexy swimsuits.

Lady Mavierck81: A very sexy picture of Iris, posing for the camera.

Maria Corral: I should have Maria send this pic into Capcom. That water gun seems to be very affective against Sigma.
