Contest Results 2001

This was my first attempt at holding a contest. Only a few people entered, so there isn't too much to see here. The irony of all this is this was a summer/beach-ware contest, and it didn't get judged until the snow came. I had originally stated, when I first started this contest, that there was no real prize for winning. After seeing the how little enthusiasm there was towards this contest, I decided to offer up the free custom piece of art that is now the prize. At the time I started this contest, I hadn't thought of making catagories, so everything was just jumbled together. It wasn't until after this contest that I decided to make some changes, as well as rules.

The judges for this contest were myself (again, I later decided to throw myself out since I found it hard to side against my friend's entries), my best friend Mabs, as well as another friend, Katei.

FIRST PLACE
Would you believe it was a tie? Niether of the two other judges would relent. Mabs liked Bobcat's picture the best, and Katei liked Tabbys. So when the knives appeared, I jumped in and said 'TIE!", and that stopped everything before it got nasty. Who want's to bet those two grow up to be Soccer Moms?

pawzerobeach-bobcat.jpg: I personally thought this was really cute. Paw shows us all how much respect she has for the Crimson One.
Prize: Bobcat decided to push my art skills to a new level by asking me to draw Sephiroth from FF7.

lazinblues-tabby.jpg: Did I ever mention I was an avid Blues fan? Katei is too, so I guess that explains her actions towards this pic. Blues is afloat in a sea of conent. ((He's so cute!!))
Prize: Tabby asked me to draw her character Fang, and was so patient with me when I finished it, but my scanner broke. She had to wait almost 6 months, but she was very happy.


Second Place
I got to pic the second place winner. It was tough. I had two pictures, one drawn and colored very well, and the other with a cute humorous twist. Eventually, I chose the humorous one. I figured since the above winners had been based on style, the second place winner should be based on contet. So here it is.

Beach-ZvelHaj.jpg: Dynamo lays on a lawn chair, relaxed, totally oblivious to the calamaties going on behind him. ((Sigma won this spot))


The last three entries have been put together in no particular order. Each one had their own good qualities. Tabby entered twice, so when her one entry tied for first, I felt the other should be placed in the runner's up catagory.

irisbathingsuit-momo.jpg: A beautiful pic. This one had the most Capcomish style to it. Well done Momo.
mertibathsuit-tabby.jpg: Merti the mermaid from the X comics takes in a few rays. The hair and skin were well shaded.
Drenched-maria.jpg: The only entry to have an origanal character in it, I thought this picture was really cute. Well drawn, neat, and colorful.
